Accessibility Statement

Last updated: June 2026

Mower Design is committed to making this site usable by everyone — including people who use assistive technology, keyboard-only navigation, or screen readers. This page explains what standard we target, what we have implemented, and how to reach us if something is not working for you.

What standard does this site target?

This site aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA — the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published by the W3C. These guidelines cover four principles: content must be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust across different browsers and assistive technologies.

What has been implemented?

  • Semantic HTML5. Pages are built with correct semantic elements — nav, main, section, footer, h1 through h3 — so screen readers and assistive technology can navigate the page structure accurately.
  • Keyboard navigation. Every interactive element — links, buttons, form fields — is reachable and operable using a keyboard alone. No interaction requires a mouse.
  • Skip navigation link. A skip link is present at the top of every page. It is invisible until focused via keyboard, at which point it becomes visible and allows users to jump directly to the main content.
  • Visible focus states. Focus indicators are visible on all interactive elements so keyboard users always know where they are on the page.
  • Color contrast. Body text meets the 4.5:1 contrast ratio minimum against its background. Large text meets the 3:1 minimum. No content relies on color alone to convey meaning.
  • Image alt text. Every meaningful image includes a descriptive alt attribute. Decorative images that add no informational content are marked appropriately.
  • ARIA labels. Icon-only buttons and navigation landmarks include ARIA labels so screen reader users understand their purpose without relying on visual context.
  • Form labels. Every field in the contact form has an associated label element. Required fields are marked clearly.

Are there any known limitations?

  • Hero video background. The homepage uses a looping video as a decorative background — slow-moving water and fog. It contains no spoken words, captions, or content conveyed through audio. On mobile devices, the video does not load and a static image is shown instead. The video is treated as a purely decorative element and does not carry any informational content that would otherwise require a text alternative.

No other known accessibility issues exist at the time of this writing. If you find one, please let us know.

How do you report an accessibility issue?

If you encounter anything on this site that is difficult or impossible to use, please reach out via the contact page. Describe what you were trying to do, what device or assistive technology you were using, and what happened. We take these reports seriously and will respond promptly.
